Getting started
A token, your first API call and an agent connected over MCP, in a few minutes.
There are two ways to talk to tracker, always on behalf of a person and with their permissions:
- MCP, for AI agents (Claude, Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT): the person authorizes in the browser and the agent uses the tools.
- REST API, for scripts, CI and imports: a personal token in the
Authorizationheader.
1. Create a personal token
At https://tracker.aquarela.app/account/tokens (Your account → Apps and API), choose how long it lasts (30, 90, 180, 365 days) and whether the token can create issues. It's shown only once: keep it in a CI secret or a password manager. The token works for the company it was created in.
2. Make your first call
curl -sS https://tracker.aquarela.app/api/v1/me -H "Authorization: Bearer $TRACKER_TOKEN"The response has the person, the company, the projects with their role in each one and the version of tracker that's live. GET /projects returns each project's issue types, statuses and fields, which you'll use to create issues.
3. Create an issue
curl -sS -X POST https://tracker.aquarela.app/api/v1/issues \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $TRACKER_TOKEN" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"project": "MOB", "title": "Login fails on Android 15", "severity": "S2", "description": "After updating the app, login keeps loading."}'The url in the response is the issue's link. Before creating in bulk, read the "Has this happened before?" guide so you don't create duplicates.
4. Connect an agent over MCP
claude mcp add --transport http tracker https://tracker.aquarela.app/mcpThen /mcp in Claude Code opens the browser to authorize. On the authorization screen the person picks the companies and whether the agent can write. The other clients are in "How to connect".
